Makar Sankranti also known as
Sankranti or Uttarayana is a significant
Hindu festival marking the Sun 's
transition into the zodiac sign of
Copricorn (Makar) . This event signifies
the end of winter and the onset of longer warmer days.
In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh , the festival is popularly known as 'pedda
Panduga'or 'Sankranti' and is celebrated with great enthusiasm over three days.
1)Bhogi: The first day of dedicated to Lord, India the god of rain seeking his blessings for good haivests . People light bonfires with agriculture waste and old household items.
2) Sankrail : Family prepare traditional dishes such as ' Pongal 'and 'Ariselu', and offer prayers for prosperity.
3)Kanuma:Farm animals are bathed, decorated, and worshipped,
